Revoke Antony Blinken’s Nomination for the Tipperary Peace Prize

Petition to Revoke Antony Blinken’s Nomination for the Tipperary Peace Prize

We, the undersigned, call on the Tipperary Peace Prize Committee to revoke the nomination of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. His actions, particularly his role in facilitating the supply of weapons to Israel, have directly contributed to mass civilian casualties, the destruction of vital infrastructure in Gaza, and ongoing violence. These actions, under his leadership, are widely regarded as facilitating genocide and war crimes.

Mr. Blinken’s policies are in direct contradiction to the core values of peace, justice, and humanitarianism that the Tipperary Peace Prize seeks to uphold. This esteemed award should honour those who work relentlessly for peace, justice, and human rights—not those whose actions contribute to war crimes and the systematic oppression of vulnerable populations.

We urge the committee to revoke his nomination in light of the grave humanitarian and moral implications of his actions. The Tipperary Peace Prize must remain a symbol of genuine efforts to promote peace and justice for all.

Update 10/01/2025:

On the 9th January, Martin Quinn, Honorary Secretary of the Tipperary Peace Convention, appeared on Tipp Mid West Radio, where our petition and several questions about the nomination process were discussed. His responses raised more concerns than clarity:

•  There is no transparency around how nominees are shortlisted, and no public access to the criteria or decision-making process.
•  Blinken’s nomination is based on the potential for a future peace deal, not his actual actions, which include facilitating the supply of military aid and arms that have caused immense suffering in Gaza.

Mr. Quinn also stated that the committee cannot revoke a nomination, which raises serious questions about the integrity of the award. The Tipperary Peace Prize must uphold Ireland’s commitment to justice, peace, and transparency, or its credibility risks being undermined.

Please continue to sign and share— we are working on ways to ensure this petition is acknowledged in a meaningful way.
